Pennies is an easy-to-use budget tracker and purchase ledger. From a design perspective, it’s beautiful simple from the well-spaced layout that keeps your remaining balance the central focus to the minimal gesture-based interface.
Take it from someone who’s tried all the options: if you’re serious about staying on budget with your day-to-day purchases, manually entering your purchases makes a big difference. It keeps us aware of exactly how much money we have to spend and –let’s be honest– forces us to check ourselves when we’re about to buy something we really can’t afford. So while some might argue that this app is missing features (like being able to connect to a bank account), we have found this to be better than the alternatives that do offer more by virtue of the very things it lacks.
After all, can you really put a price on financial responsibility?
